Privacy Policy

The short version
Tezlo helps Tesla owners. To do that, we collect your account details, your Tesla vehicle data (only with your permission), your location (only with your permission), and how you use the app. When you choose to contact a business - call, book, or get directions - that business receives your request so it can respond. We show sponsored offers based on your location and interests, but we do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell your data to data brokers. You can turn off personalized offers anytime in the app. We never sell your Tesla login; your Tesla tokens are encrypted and used only by our servers. You can disconnect your Tesla or delete your account and data whenever you like.
Who we are
Tezlo (“Tezlo,” “we,” “us”) is operated by Altrooz, Inc. This policy explains what we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to tezlo.app and the Tezlo mobile app. Tezlo is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Tesla, Inc.
Information we collect
- Account information - your email and name, from the email-code sign-in or Sign in with Apple, and any display name you set. Tezlo has no password: the one-time sign-in code is issued by our authentication provider.
- Tesla account & vehicle data - if you connect your Tesla, we access data through Tesla’s official Fleet API using the permissions you grant: your Tesla account name and email; vehicle details (VIN, model, trim, color, wheels, software version); and vehicle status such as battery level, range, charge state, odometer, tire pressures, and climate. If you grant vehicle-location access, we also read your vehicle’s location. Your Tesla access tokens are stored encrypted and are never shared.
- Location - with your permission, your device and/or vehicle location, used to show nearby charging, services, and Get Aways, and to send arrival reminders for trips you plan. From this we also derive and store a coarse general area - an approximate metro (for example, “East Bay”), never a precise location or address - which appears on your Community posts so other owners can see roughly where you are. You can hide or change it anytime in Profile.
- Usage & analytics - screens you view, features you use, and taps you make (for example, which Genie questions or marketplace categories you tap), plus device and app information.
- Content you create - Get Away spots, photos, and descriptions you upload; your Community posts, Stories, and comments; and direct messages you send to other owners, including a note you add when you share a post.
- People you add - the names and email addresses you enter to invite someone to a Get Away, to your family plan, or to your car’s Drivers list. We use them only to send that invitation and to show who is on your plan or your car.
- Feedback and screenshots - notes you send from Share feedback, and any screenshots you choose to attach. A screenshot can show personal details (an address, a map position, an email). Screenshots are converted to a plain image on your iPhone before upload (which removes the original file and its location data), stored privately, seen only by the Tezlo team to fix the problem you reported, and deleted 90 days after your note is closed.
- Voice input - when you talk to Genie hands-free, what you say is turned into text by Apple’s speech recognition, on your iPhone or, when you are online, on Apple’s servers under Apple’s own terms. Tezlo never receives the audio: only the transcribed text is sent to us and our AI provider to answer your request. Spoken replies are generated by a text-to-speech provider. You control microphone and speech-recognition access in iOS Settings.
- Calendar and contacts - with your permission, and only when you ask by voice (“take me to my next meeting,” “text Carey my ETA”), the app reads the event’s location or the contact’s phone number on your device. The event’s location is sent to us as part of that request, like any other place you ask for. The contact’s name and number are sent to us and our messaging provider to deliver that text, and we keep them with the message for up to 30 days so that a reply can be delivered to you in the app; then they are deleted. We never upload your address book or your calendar, only the one contact or location you asked about.
- Notifications - a push-notification token for your device so we can send you alerts you’ve enabled.
- Subscriptions and payments - Tezlo offers optional paid subscriptions (Tezlo Pro, Tezlo Pro Voice, and add-ons) sold through the Apple App Store and billed to your Apple ID. Apple processes the payment; we receive confirmation of your subscription status but never see or store your card details. When you book or buy a real-world service from a business you find in Tezlo, you pay that business directly through their own system.
How we use your information
- Provide and personalize the service - the Genie assistant, local charging and service intel, the marketplace, Get Aways, “Send to Tesla,” and proactive ownership nudges.
- Connect you with relevant local businesses and show you offers that fit your vehicle and interests.
- Understand how the app is used so we can improve it.
- Send you service messages (always) and marketing messages (only if you opt in).
- Keep the service safe and secure, and comply with legal obligations.
How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information to data brokers, and we do not share it with third parties for their own cross-app or cross-site advertising. Our free product is supported by connecting you with local businesses. Specifically:
- Local businesses you contact - when you tap to call, book, or get directions to a listed business, we pass along your request (and, for a booking, the contact details you provide) so that business can respond to you. This is a first-party interaction you initiate. We give advertisers only aggregate, non-identifying performance about their listings (for example, how many people tapped to call or book) - never your identity.
- Service providers that run the product on our behalf, each under contract - hosting, databases and the services that relay vehicle commands and receive vehicle data (Vercel, Supabase, Railway, Fly.io); email delivery (Resend); maps and places (Apple, Google); weather forecasts (the U.S. National Weather Service, which receives only a rounded area of about 7 miles, never your exact location or who you are); the AI that powers Genie and its search (Anthropic, OpenAI); speech recognition and text-to-speech for Genie (Apple, Cartesia); phone and messaging for verification and business calls (Twilio); booking and scheduling for marketplace services (Square, Acuity, Calendly); Tesla (Fleet API); payments to and from businesses and ambassadors (Stripe); and Apple (Sign in with Apple, notifications, and in-app subscription payments). They may only use your data to provide services to us.
- Legal, safety, and business transfers - to comply with the law, protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
We do not sell your Tesla login credentials or your raw vehicle telemetry to third parties.
Text messages. When you ask Genie by voice to text someone your arrival time, we use that person’s mobile number only to deliver the message you requested and to route their reply back to you, through our messaging provider (Twilio). The message record is deleted after 30 days. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. Recipients can reply STOP to opt out; the program terms are in our Terms of Service.
Your Tesla data, specifically
We access your Tesla data only with the authorization you grant, and only through Tesla’s official Fleet API. You can disconnect your Tesla at any time from within the Tezlo app or your Tesla account; once disconnected, we stop accessing new data. Your use of Tesla’s services is also governed by Tesla’s own terms and privacy policy.
Sharing your car with people you choose
You can share a car with people you pick, and only after they accept. If you share your car’s controls with someone on its Drivers list, or if you accept an invitation to someone’s family plan (which shares your car with the person who runs the plan), that person can see the car’s location and status, use its controls in Tezlo, and see its drives from the day the sharing began, never earlier. A driver decides for themselves whether their drives are labeled as theirs; when they are, the people who can see those drives see the label.
Sharing stops whenever you choose. An owner can turn off a driver’s controls or remove them in Drivers. A family member can leave the plan in Profile → My plan, and the person who runs the plan can remove them there. Once sharing stops, that person no longer sees the car.
Your choices and rights
- Personalized offers - turn off “Share data for personalized offers” in Profile → Privacy & data and we’ll stop using your data to tailor which sponsored offers you see.
- Marketing - opt in or out of marketing emails in the same place; you’ll still receive essential service messages.
- Access, correction, and deletion - you can request a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or delete your account and data. Deleting your account removes your personal data from our systems (some limited records may be retained where required by law: for example, if you were paid as a Tezlo Ambassador, your signed agreement and payout records are kept for tax reporting). We also keep the vehicle identification number (VIN) of any car that has started a free trial, with the date, so the trial stays once per car. That record holds no name, email, or other account details.
- Location - control location access anytime in iOS Settings. You can also hide or correct the general area shown on your Community posts in Profile → Community.
- Withdraw consent - you can withdraw a consent you previously gave at any time.
To exercise a right, email privacy@tezlo.app. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and share it, to request access and deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under California law. The categories we collect are described in “Information we collect” above, and how we use and disclose them is described in “How we share your information.” Use the requests described above to exercise these rights.
Data retention and security
We keep your information while your account is active and as needed to provide the service, then delete or de-identify it. Specific windows: what you say or type to Genie (the transcribed text and the replies) is deleted after 90 days; text messages sent by voice, with the recipient’s name and number, after 30 days; second-by-second vehicle telemetry after 30 days; usage analytics after 90 days; and the record of which business you called, booked or opened is kept for the business’s totals but stops being linked to you after 90 days. Some things are kept while your account is active because the product is built on them: your drive history (each drive’s start and end place, time and distance), your mileage log, and what Genie has learned from you - the phrases, places and rules you teach it, and destinations it has learned from your requests, which include the words you used and the address (kept for up to a year after they were last confirmed). You can ask Genie to forget a phrase, a place or a rule, and forgetting a place also removes what it learned for it. All of it is deleted with your account. We protect your data with encryption in transit, encrypted storage of Tesla tokens, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your information.
Children
Tezlo is not intended for children under 13 and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we’ll update the date above and ask you to review and accept the updated policy in the app.
